About Andrew

Andrew in 2014Andrew grew up in Michigan with his younger brother and their two parents.  He graduated from high school in 1995, already possessing college credits, and entered into Saint Clair County Community College as a full time student the next fall.

At this time, the two brothers began creating music inspired by Detroit’s ever-crazy glam scene, punk rock, and danceable electronica.  The project also had to fit their love of cyberpunk and fantasy literature.  Arcanasphere was then conceived.

Andrew majored in the verbose course of Computer Information Systems Data Sequence Administration, and followed his pair of English Major friends to several of their classes as well.

As the younger brother drifted away to work on his own projects,  Arcanasphere became a one-person band.  He then met his soon-to-be wife in Austin, Texas.  With his guitar in the back seat and his beige-boxed computer in the trunk, rural Michigan was left behind for bigger dreams.

Over this time, Andrew has held the following jobs:

  • Grim Reaper in a haunted house
  • Low level management at a software and video game store
  • Web master for glam bands, a tattoo artist, a drama teacher, and as a paid gig in an ugly blue cubicle.
  • The sales clerk with purple hair at the kinds of stores that also sold hair dye on the side.  Clients looking for dye knew who to ask for help.
  • Author and level designer in a nice downtown Austin office building for an up-and-coming multiplayer online fantasy game.

Married, and happily living just outside of south Austin, he is the happy father of two children.  He also keeps busy when he is not at work.  His hobbies include:

  • Podcasting.  Arcanasphere once published a Friday podcast focused on improvised industrial music.  Andrew now podcasts horror fiction at http://www.darkarcanum.com.
  • Magic / Illusions. Arcana is magic concerning cards.  “Pick a card” is one of the most rewarding stories you can tell, and perfectly at home with the other arts.
  • Music.  Career and children took precedence after he finishing The Quantum Homicide.  The next project, entitled The Riddle of Doom, remains unfinished.  The artwork for that album has since become his second personal sigil.
  • Improvised Comedy.  Perpetual student at The Institution Theater and founder of Candy Vampires.
  • Web and Graphic Design.  Jack of all trades but master of none.  (X)HTML, CSS, PHP, XML and graphics work.  Keyword research, Google Sitemaps, light customer service, and doing whatever needs to be done.

Andrew does not like talking or writing about himself in the third person.  Andrew simply dislikes using the word I when telling stories, in favor of more creative language.
